My Review:

This is the third book in the Oz series and this time we see Dorothy again. The story starts out with Dorothy and Uncle Henry on a ship in the middle of a storm headed to Australia. Much like the original story, Dorothy loses Uncle Henry and proceeds to run back out on the ship to find him. She is thrown overboard and lucky for her falls into a box. She proceeds to float in the ocean for a long time so she takes a nap. When she wakes up she immediately realizes something is different.

We meet some new characters in this book but we still get to see all the characters we have grown to love. Dorothy meets the sawhorse from the second book and we meet a friend of the Cowardly Lion, a very hungry tiger. This character is sort of weird and a little bit creepy. When we first meet him he starts talking about eating fat babies!

The first character we are introduced to is a very smart mouthed hen named Bill but Dorothy renames her Billina because she feels it’s more appropriate for a girl chicken. We also get to meet a robot named Tik-tok. We also meet some creatures named, The Wheelers, man are they creepy! I can’t even describe these things. They are tall, skinny, and have wheels instead of hands and feet. It’s not that that makes them creepy though, It’s their faces! We meet a very vain princess who is able to take of her head and change it out for another one. This is where our adventure with the previous characters begins.

The quest throughout this book is to save the Queen of the Land of Ev and her ten child. They need to make their way to the underground King and get them back. The king makes a deal with everyone there for them to rescue the people they are looking for. This is actually my favorite part to read. I won’t go any further because I don’t want to spoil it.

The color hues in this book are good like in the first one when they in Oz. When we are talking with the princess there is a pink hue to all the pages. Then when we are underground with the Nome King there is an orange hue.

The end of this book has the covers for all the comic books as the last ones did. It also has sketches and the final out comes of the new characters. There are also a couple pages that show the process of a couple pages in the book.
