My Review:
Favorite Quote: That proves you are unusual, returned the Scarecrow; and I am convinced the only people worthy of consideration in this world are the unusual ones. For the common folks are like the leaves of a tree, and live and die unnoticed." - Scarecrow

I enjoyed this book a little more than the first in the series because I have never read the original. This story was all new to me. We get to see the Scarecrow, Tin man, and Glenda the Good again. However, the beginning of this book follows a little boy named Tip who lives with an evil old witch named Mombi. Mombi goes on a trip to pick up some magic dust and plans to turn Tip into a statue so she won’t have to worry about him anymore. While she is gone Tip creates a Pumpkinhead man to scare Mombi but his plan fails and she ends up making him come alive. Soon Tip and Jack Pumpkinhead run away to the Emerald City. Creating a Horse friend and meeting some new people along the way. One of those people being a young lady with a women army that plans to take over the Emerald City!

The illustrations are the same in this book as they are in the first. I was happy to see both the Tin Man and Scarecrow again. I also really like Pumpkinhead. He wasn’t the smartest creature and he was constantly afraid of spoiling.

Again this book has extras at the end of the book, including all the covers of the original comics and sketches at the end of the new characters.

Do I Recommend this Book/Series?

Yes! If you read the first one then I suggest you continue!

Will I Read the Next Book?

It’s next on my list.
