Musing Mondays is a weekly meme hosted by MizB over at Should Be Reading. Each Monday, she asks a book-related question and we blog our answers, then link back to her original post.
This week’s musing — courtesy of sarrod22.blogspot.com– asks…
What is your least favorite book? Why?
My Answer:
I am taking this question to mean which book I don’t like at all, not necessarily mean I have a list of top ten and this is my tenth book.
I have a couple books on my Goodreads
that I have not finished but I am not taking those into account because I don’t
think that’s quiet fair. It could have had a great ending but I will never
know. So I am taking my lowest rated books that I have finished.
I think it would be a tie between two
romantic suspense books, Hush by
Kate White and Deep Freeze by Lisa Jackson.
Both of these books received two stars ratings from me on Goodreads. I pretty
much had to force myself to finish them. It has been a while since I read these
books and it was before I started actually reviewing books so I have to think
pretty hard as to what specifically I didn’t like.
By the end of Hush I found that I really didn’t care anymore about who did what
and why. I felt that the book was dragging on and I would question why the main
character was doing certain things. It was really hard to not put down this
book.
Deep Freeze
was a lot of the same thing. I forced myself to finish it and it took at least
a week if not more. I like Lisa Jackson and I own a lot of her books but this
one was not a winner on my list. I own the next book in the series but I think
I am going to go ahead and sell them. I have no desire to read the next one
because I know that it is going to be the exact same thing.

I know I've read many books over the years that I didn't enjoy, and couldn't connect with the characters, etc. But the worst ones for me are those with horrible writing and lots of grammatical errors. Like the one I wrote about in MY MUSING MONDAYS POST
ReplyDeleteI remember reading a book a year or two ago, and I remember writing in my thoughts, that I got more sleeping time with this book that reading time. Each time I picked the book up to read it, I fell asleep. But like you after a week, I finally got it read.
ReplyDeleteIt's awful when books just drag on.

Yes, a too long book, all bloated, drives me nuts!
ReplyDeleteyea I think one of the worst things an author can do is make a book too long or to point that it starts to drag on.
