An epidemic of
apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed
on the living. In a matter of months, society has crumbled: There is no
government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. In a world ruled
by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living. This volume follows our
band of survivors on their tragic journey in search of shelter. Characters live
and die as they brave a treacherous landscape littered with packs of the
walking dead.
My Review:
This volume starts off with a flashback from Lori, the main
character Rick’s wife. Then picks up right where the first one left off. Something
happens with the group and they finally have to decide that it is time to leave
their spot whether they like it or not. There is quite a bit of traveling going
on in this volume. They take off all in the small RV to find a safe place to
stay.
Along the way they meet with some new people and of course
with the first volume they end up losing a couple people. That is the thing
with zombies. The people you meet usually end up coming and going. When they
finally find a perfect neighborhood to stay the night in, they soon find out it
isn’t as perfect as it looks.
There is one pretty significant part of the story that got
an audible gasp from me. I didn’t see that coming at all. It definitely was a
good transition to the next stop on their travels. Again there is some love
thrown in to this volume. There is also that speck of hope and normalcy.
Finally they end up at yet another place they would like to
try and stay. This is where this volume ends. Some interesting stuff happens in
this one but I’m afraid since I’ve had a little break in between reading this
one and the third one that I might forget who everyone is and who has already
died.
Do I Recommend this Book/Series?
Yes! I can’t wait to see what happens in the third book!
Will I Read the Next
Book?
Of Course!
