Wishlist Wednesday #6

Wishlist Wednesday is a book blog hop hosted by Dani at Pen to Paper Blog where we will post about one book per week that has been on our wishlist for some time, or just added (it's entirely up to you), that we can't wait to get off the wishlist and onto our wonderful shelves.

New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., have been abandoned.

The Bill of Rights has been revoked, and replaced with the Moral Statutes.

There are no more police—instead, there are soldiers. There are no more fines for bad behavior—instead, there are arrests, trials, and maybe worse. People who get arrested usually don't come back.

Seventeen-year-old Ember Miller is old enough to remember that things weren't always this way. Living with her rebellious single mother, it's hard for her to forget that people weren't always arrested for reading the wrong books or staying out after dark. It's hard to forget that life in the United States used to be different.

Ember has perfected the art of keeping a low profile. She knows how to get the things she needs, like food stamps and hand-me-down clothes, and how to pass the random home inspections by the military. Her life is as close to peaceful as circumstances allow.

That is, until her mother is arrested for noncompliance with Article 5 of the Moral Statutes. And one of the arresting officers is none other than Chase Jennings—the only boy Ember has ever loved.

This book has such varied rating on Goodreads. I’m not really sure why I haven’t picked it up yet. I think it’s just because I haven’t seen it for a good price anywhere. I’m hoping it will pop up at one of the Half Priced Books I go too.

The cover is pretty awesome. The cover for the second one coming out next year looks just as awesome too!

The only thing I find weird is that it says Washington, D.C has been abandoned but clearly the government is in charge so I would like to see what’s up with that.

My birthday is coming up so I’ve really been considering picking this one up if I haven’t found it yet. Although paying full price makes me cringe. lol

Have you read this? What did you think of it?!
