Scarlett March lives to hunt the Fenris--the werewolves that took her eye when she was defending her sister Rosie from a brutal attack. Armed with a razor-sharp hatchet and blood-red cloak, Scarlett is an expert at luring and slaying the wolves. She's determined to protect other young girls from a grisly death, and her raging heart will not rest until every single wolf is dead.

Rosie March once felt her bond with her sister was unbreakable. Owing Scarlett her life, Rosie hunts ferociously alongside her. But even as more girls' bodies pile up in the city and the Fenris seem to be gaining power, Rosie dreams of a life beyond the wolves. She finds herself drawn to Silas, a young woodsman who is deadly with an ax and Scarlett's only friend--but does loving him mean betraying her sister and all that they've worked for?

I find this book hard to review. Everybody who I’ve talked to or I’ve seen them talk about it, love it. I can’t say I love it though. I don’t hate it and I gave it a good rating but I can’t say that I love it. I think part of that reason is because I wasn’t really a “werewolf” person when I started reading but towards the end I was actually getting into it.

I liked the way the book was written. It was written with more than one point of view which is one of my favorite things in a book. I love being able to see what other people are thinking. Especially when the people are so different like Scarlett and Rosie are.

I think there was a little bit of insta-love in this book, which I don’t like. It wasn’t enough to make me want to quiet reading or anything. I found the romance a little weird actually. I don’t want to put in any spoilers though so I won’t go too far into that. There was one scene in particular where I was like, “What the heck is he doing?! That is not his girlfriend!” I was actually surprised they didn’t talk about that after it happened either.

I liked Rosie’s character a lot better than Scarlett. Rosie act’s more like a normal 16 year old than Scarlett does which is understandable in their situation. Scarlett is extremely obsessed with hunting, to the point where she should probably see someone. I think Rosie and their partner react more normally to the situations. They do what they need to do but can separate themselves unlike Scarlett.

I have to say that I did figure this book out about half way through. I of course didn’t know exactly what the ending was going to be but I had the overall jist of it down. I think it ended rather quickly. Once the ending started I felt like it was over.

I have to say that I will definitely be reading the next book. On a separate note, I like the way this and Sweetly's covers are designed. I wish they didn't change them, although I do like the new ones too.

My Rating:

  1. Overall, I enjoyed Sisters Red, although I did have some issues. I was able to get over them for the most part. I can't remember, but I think I rated this a four. Great review.

    1. Yea I had some issues and as I said I'm not a big werewolf person so I was not the biggest fan when I first started reading but it turned out to be not so bad. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I almost picked this up in the library today, but I put it back down in the end - I had a quick glance through it and just wasn't sure it was for me! I like the idea of the dual POVs from the sisters though, and I don't think I've ever read a book with werewolves before, so maybe I'll end up borrowing it in future. :)
